JOB SUMMARY

We are currently hiring a Quality Assurance Technician who will report directly to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager. The Quality Assurance Technician will have superior attention to detail, strong communication skills, be a team player, assertive, engaging and experienced with the application of regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the strict adherence to company standards, CanadaGAP and regulatory requirements, the Quality Assurance Technician will ensure the safety and quality of products we process and produce through the execution of daily quality assurance activities such as; inspections, internal audits, reporting non-conformances and implementing low risk immediate corrective actions.

The regular hours will be Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm (the schedule may be adjusted depending on production needs). This role will be guaranteed the opportunity to work a full 40-hour work week each week.

Rotational Saturday work is required and is to be shared amongst the Quality Assurance Team on a rotational basis. The Saturday shift will be 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During the plant’s busy season (October, November, December, early January), there are planned blackout periods, no vacation can be booked during these periods. The blackout schedule will be posted in September each year.

DUTIES The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

Quality Assurance

- Perform quality assurance checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation and warehouse functions of the Company.




- Contribute to a healthy work environment, while maintaining high food safety standards.
- Maintain daily label and lot coding records in conjunction with plant team.
- Document all QA activities accurately and timely.
- Ongoing assessment of inspection results and escalation of potentially problematic inspection findings to the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager in a timely manner.
- Verification of testing equipment such as thermometers and scales.
- Conduct product quality inspection throughout production lines to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Support Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager with any minor changes to existing

CanadaGAP, GMP, and HACCP documentation.
- Quality assessment and documentation of incoming goods

Audits and Reporting

- Conduct and report on Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) audits twice daily for each production line.

- Support with any product non-conformance investigative inspections and reports
- Participate and report on traceback activities

• Additional reports as requested by management.

Training and Development

- Provide on-site training to the employees on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), GMP, and Food Safety Procedures.




- Other duties assigned as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certifications:

- 3+ years’ experience in a QA position, preferably for a food manufacturer.
- Knowledge of food safety programs, GMP programs and Quality Systems

- Technical Certification related to Food Safety

Skills:

- Leadership Skills: Ability to use appropriate methods and interpersonal styles to motivate and guide fellow employees to keep up with deliverables & food safety protocols. Perform daily check-ins to attain successful outcomes and business objectives. Work cooperatively with others to help a team or work group achieve its goals.
- Communication Skills: Technicians will interact frequently with fellow employees, department managers and senior management through various forms of communication.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Problem-Solving Skills: Identify and understand problems and opportunities by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information; choosing the best course of action by establishing explicit decision criteria, generating and evaluating alternatives. Make timely decisions and take action that is consistent with available facts and constraints.
- Time Management Skills: Strong time management skills are required to manage deadlines, audit schedules and meetings.

Physical Requirements:

- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending.
- Must be able to lift to 50lbs.
- Sound / auditory discrimination.
