About the role

Phelishia Company Ltd. is a Concord-based manufacturer of premium frozen desserts. We are looking for a part-time Quality Assurance Specialist to set up and oversee our quality program.

The position starts with one full week on site to train our production staff on quality and food safety procedures. After that, it continues on Mondays and Tuesdays each week to review the previous week's production and manage all laboratory work.

Responsibilities

- Spend the first week on site training production staff on food safety, sanitation and quality procedures
- Attend every Monday and Tuesday to review the previous week's production, verify procedures were followed and correct any gaps
- Take full responsibility for all laboratory work, including sampling, testing, interpreting results and managing results from outside labs
- Maintain food safety documentation: HACCP records, sanitation logs, temperature and traceability records
- Write and update standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Investigate quality issues, hold non-conforming product and follow through on corrective actions
- Support CFIA and third-party audits and customer inspections
- Monitor allergen controls,



labelling accuracy and packaging quality

Qualifications

- Experience in quality assurance in food manufacturing
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and food safety regulations; certification an asset
- Laboratory experience in a food or microbiology setting
- Confident training and coaching production staff
- Strong record-keeping and attention to detail
- Able to work on the production floor in a cold environment
- Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology or a related field is an asset

Schedule and location

Part-time, Mondays and Tuesdays, after an initial full training week. On site in Concord, Ontario, near Highway 7 and Dufferin. The exact address is provided to candidates selected for an interview. Please do not visit the facility in person.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 per week
