Railing Installer – Independent Contractor

Since 1985, Ottawa Classic Stairs & Bannisters has been a leading custom stair and railing manufacturer in the Ottawa region, recognized for craftsmanship, quality, and customer service.

We are currently seeking skilled and motivated Railing Installers to join our team as Independent Contractors specializing in interior railing installations for new home construction throughout the Ottawa area.

The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced in finish carpentry or custom installation work. Candidates must be capable of working independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism on active construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently install interior railings on residential construction sites throughout the Ottawa region
- Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and project specifications
- Verify measurements and ensure all required materials are available prior to installation
- Communicate professionally with site supervisors, trades, and office staff to resolve on-site issues efficiently
- Ensure installations meet company quality standards and project timelines
- Maintain clean and safe work areas on job sites
- Follow company procedures and comply with all Health & Safety requirements

Skills & Qualifications
- Finish carpentry experience or strong carpentry/install experience required
- Experience using machinery, power tools,



and equipment in a custom woodworking environment
- Robust understanding of interior finishing and attention to detail
- Knowledge of wood products, railing systems, and finishing characteristics
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and dependable
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends when required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Must provide own tools and vehicle suitable for transportation of materials and equipment

Compensation & Advantages
- Performance-based earning potential of approximately $85,000 – $100,000 annually
- Paid training provided based on experience and skill level
