We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician / Workshop Controller to join the 247 Automotive Group and play a key role in establishing and developing our new Oxford site.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and confident leading a workshop team.

You won't simply be taking over an established workshop. You will have the opportunity to help build the operation from the outset, working alongside the wider team to prepare the site, recruit and develop the workshop team, establish procedures and processes, open the workshop and ultimately help grow the customer base and operation.

We are looking for someone who wants to build something with us and who has the ambition and ability to progress into a senior operational role within the wider 247 Automotive Group.

The Role

The successful candidate will be both a hands-on technical leader and workshop controller.

You will lead from the front, using your technical experience to support the workshop team with diagnostics, mechanical repairs and more complex jobs when required, while also taking responsibility for the smooth running and organisation of the workshop.

You will be responsible for allocating work to technicians, monitoring progress and productivity, maintaining quality standards and ensuring customers are kept informed throughout the repair process.

Key Responsibilities

- Allocate and control workshop jobs, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
- Lead, motivate and develop the workshop team.
- Provide technical support and assistance with complex diagnostic and mechanical issues.
- Remain hands‑on and capable of getting involved with difficult technical jobs when required.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency and workshop KPIs.
- Ensure manufacturer, company and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Carry out quality control and vehicle checks before vehicles leave the workshop.




- Work closely with the front‑of‑house team to ensure customers are kept fully informed.
- Act as a key point of contact between the workshop, service team and customers.
- Deal professionally with technical queries, customer concerns and escalations.
- Help manage workshop workflow, scheduling and turnaround times.
- Support recruitment and the development of the Oxford workshop team.
- Develop and implement workshop procedures and processes.
- Assist with parts and supplier management.
- Help manage workshop equipment and facilities.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety.
- Support MOT operations.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the Oxford site.

Building the Oxford Site

This is a major part of the opportunity.

The successful candidate will be involved in the development of the Oxford operation from the very beginning, including:

- Site preparation
- Recruitment
- Building the workshop team
- Establishing procedures
- Opening the workshop
- Developing the customer base
- Growing the operation

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate needs to be more than just a good mechanic.

You will need to combine strong technical ability with the organisation, communication and leadership skills required to run an efficient workshop.

Ideally, you will have:





- Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
- Extensive experience as a Senior Technician, Master Technician or similar.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic ability.
- Experience with modern vehicle electrical systems.
- Experience using professional diagnostic equipment.
- Previous workshop supervision, control or management experience.
- Experience allocating work and managing workshop workflow.
- Strong understanding of workshop productivity and KPIs.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a workshop team.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Experience working in a fast-paced automotive workplace.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
- MOT experience.
- EV/Hybrid vehicle experience.
- ADAS experience.
- Advanced diagnostic experience.
- Experience with workshop management systems.
