Job Overview

Growing Tykes Learning Centre is hiring Supply Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to join our growing team. We are currently hiring Supply RECEs for our Scarborough locations, with the opportunity to be added to the supply pool for our new childcare centre in East York, near Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East, once the new location is ready to open. The current centre is expected to open soon.

We are looking for caring, reliable, and dedicated educators who are committed to providing high-quality early learning experiences. Supply RECEs play an important role in supporting our classrooms and ensuring continuity of care when regular educators are away.

Successful candidates will begin employment with Growing Tykes Learning Centre and will have opportunities to work at our existing Scarborough locations. They will also receive orientation and training to become familiar with our programs, policies, procedures, and expectations. Once the new East York centre is ready to open, successful candidates will be added to the Supply RECE pool for that location. Opportunities for full-time positions may also become available in the future as our organization continues to grow.

Growing Tykes Learning Centre may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with the screening of applications during the recruitment process.

Duties

- Support and implement developmentally appropriate programs that support children's learning and development.
- Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive,



and engaging learning environment.
- Follow the classroom program plan and support children's interests, learning, and development.
- Observe and respond to children's individual needs and interests.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborate with classroom educators and other team members to provide consistent care and programming.
- Support children with diverse learning needs and follow individualized strategies when required.
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Ministry of Education regulations, and centre policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Complete required daily documentation and records using computer-based systems.
- Follow health, safety, supervision, and emergency procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of a professional team and provide support in different classrooms as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, orientation, training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a licensed child care centre that serves children receiving fee subsidy.
- Robust knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen?, and ELECT.




- Experience supporting children with diverse needs is an asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in different classrooms and adapting to the needs of each program.
- Comfortable using computers for documentation and communication.
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
- A valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certificate is required.
- Successful candidates must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) for Growing Tykes Learning Centre at their own expense.
- A satisfactory medical assessment/form, including required immunization records, must be provided prior to employment.

Pay: $26.50-$27.50 per hour
