The Red Deer Emergency Department is seeking an experienced and highly engaged Mentorship Nurse to provide at‑the‑elbow clinical support for staff across all care areas, including triage, acute, trauma, pediatrics, and EHS offload. This role is designed to strengthen real‑time clinical decision‑making, enhance staff confidence, and support safe, consistent practice in a high‑acuity, high‑volume environment.

The Mentorship

Nurse functions as an on‑shift clinical resource, offering immediate coaching, guidance, and support to nursing staff. Working collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educators, and Leadership Team, this role reinforces best practice, promotes psychological safety, and contributes to a culture of continuous learning.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour.



Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years ED experience. Charge Nurse experience an asset. Strong communication and ability to coach and support staff in a fast‑paced environment. Demonstrates professionalism, fosters psychological safety, and supports positive team culture. Committed to continuous improvement, evidence‑based practice, and high‑quality care.
