About the Role Long Term Care – Royal Ottawa Place Royal Ottawa Place is a 64-bed long-term care facility located at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. It provides a home-like environment for adults with stable mental illness and/or physical limitations. The facility is divided into four home areas, each supporting 16 residents, with an average age of 65 years.

Qualifications - Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Up to 3 months Nursing Experience - Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues - Transparent understanding of MHA and relevant legislation - Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice - Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictions - Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses - CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)



- Evidence of continuing professional education - Effective verbal and written communications skills - Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills - Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations - Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities Preferred:

- BScN - Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing - Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions - Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO) - Knowledge of mechanical lifts, transferring and positioning techniques - Experience in Long Term Care - Clear understanding of MOH LTC standards and relevant registration Language Requirements English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
