The Opportunity

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Reliability Technician / Engineer is responsible for advancing reliability programs across Wolf NGL facilities. The role analyzes equipment condition and maintenance data, turns technical findings into prioritized corrective work, and supports continuous improvement of equipment maintenance strategies in collaboration with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and specialist vendors. The primary focus will be reliability program delivery, with particular emphasis on rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turboexpanders, drivers, and auxiliary systems.

The position will be based primarily at the Wolf Feedstock Separation (WFS) facility in Sturgeon County, near Fort Saskatchewan, with travel and assignments at WRF1 near Mariana Lake and WRF2 near Fort McMurray as required.

This is a temporary 15-month contract position.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain the Wolf CARE criticality program and own and maintain the Rotating Equipment Maintenance Strategies Standard and Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS) register
- Coordinate the predictive maintenance program across vibration, oil analysis, motor circuit analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, mechanical-seal monitoring, and equipment performance data




- Critically review third-party condition-monitoring, inspection, maintenance, and repair reports and translate technical findings into proportionate actions
- Assist Planning in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Oplii equipment hierarchy and reliability records
- Lead or facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for critical and repeat failures, and maintain Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Advance and formalize the Bad Actor program
- Develop and publish the monthly maintenance KPI dashboard and quarterly reliability trend reviews and maintain KPI calculation methods, data sources, and attribution rules; validate Oplii, AMS, condition-monitoring, and work-history data and coordinate corrections with the Maintenance Planner and Supervisors
- Support field walkdowns, scope development, work-package preparation, labour and vendor requirements, permits, isolations, prerequisites, and schedule readiness for complex maintenance work
- Participate in MOCs affecting equipment reliability, condition monitoring, or maintenance strategies
- Respond to reliability-related issues outside regular work hours and work away from home for extended assignments when required

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

- Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma, Mechanical Engineering degree, Journeyperson Millwright certification (Red Seal preferred), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and directly related experience
- ISO 18436-2 Vibration Analyst Category II certification, or equivalent machinery diagnostic competency, would be an asset

Experience:

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas, gas processing, petrochemical, or a comparable industrial environment
- At least 5 years of direct experience in maintenance reliability, asset integrity, condition monitoring, maintenance programs, or a closely related role




- Strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment and associated failure modes, preferably including pumps, compressors, turboexpanders, mechanical seals, lubrication systems, and auxiliary systems
- Demonstrated ability to critically assess technical and vendor reports, identify the important findings, and convert recommendations into practical, prioritized maintenance actions
- Experience with CMMS and work-management systems, equipment maintenance strategies, predictive maintenance programs, KPI dashboards, and maintenance data-quality improvement; Oplii experience would be an asset
- Experience developing and advancing reliability programs using RCM, FMECA, RCFA, Bad Actor management, defect elimination, and Management of Change processes
- Demonstrated maintenance planning experience, including field walkdowns, scope development, work packages, vendor coordination, and schedule readiness; turnaround-specific planning experience would be an asset
- Knowledge and experience of industry-related safe work practices

Skills:

- Robust analytical and technical judgment, with the ability to interpret trends, assess equipment risk, perform root-cause analysis, and troubleshoot within a live process facility
- Hands-on and field oriented, with a willingness to verify equipment condition and work requirements rather than relying solely on system data
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concerns and required actions to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, management, and vendors
- Highly organized, proactive, and accountable, with the ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple concurrent priorities
- Strong computer, data-analysis, and reporting skills, including CMMS queries, Excel, Power BI, or comparable tools; able to support automated KPI dashboard development directly or work with Trend Ops and other specialists to clearly define requirements and validate the resulting dashboards
- Commitment to continuous operational improvement and practical problem-solving
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License, clean driving record, and industry-related safety training
