Do you love food, enjoy working with people, and like the idea of knowing way too much about cheese?

Springbank Cheese Company is looking for two part-time Cheesemongers to join our team at our Mount Pleasant location, on 16th Avenue NW.

We are a busy, locally owned cheese shop with both retail and wholesale operations. Our days involve a little bit of everything: helping customers find the perfect cheese, cutting and wrapping orders, stocking the shop, making grilled cheese sandwiches, preparing wholesale orders and, of course, keeping everything clean and organized.

Cheese experience is an asset, but it isn't required. We're happy to teach the right people. What matters most to us is that you're dependable, friendly, comfortable working hard, and genuinely interested in learning about food and cheese.

With our busy Christmas season approaching, now is a great time to join the team, get trained and learn the shop before the holiday rush begins.

What You'll Be Doing

- Cutting, weighing, wrapping and preparing cheese for retail and wholesale orders
- Helping customers choose cheeses, accompaniments and pairings
- Operating the till and handling customer transactions
- Stocking shelves, coolers and product displays
- Preparing and serving our grilled cheese sandwiches
- Receiving, organizing and moving product
- Maintaining a clean and organized food-preparation and retail workplace
- Sweeping, mopping and completing regular cleaning throughout the shop
- Learning about our cheeses, producers, accompaniments and products

Who We're Looking For You don't need to arrive knowing the difference between Gruyère and Gouda — we'll teach you!

You do need to be someone who:





- Is friendly and comfortable talking with customers
- Is reliable and shows up ready to work
- Pays attention to details and takes pride in doing things properly
- Can work independently while also being a good teammate
- Is comfortable handling and preparing food
- Is willing and interested in learning about cheese and specialty foods
- Can stay organized and productive during busy periods
- Is comfortable being on their feet for most of a shift
- Can safely lift and move items weighing up to approximately 60 lbs

Previous retail, customer service, deli, cheese counter or food-service experience is an asset. A Food Safety Certificate is also an asset but is not required.

Availability

We are looking for applicants with flexible daytime availability, with some weekend availability preferred.

Our regular store hours are:

Monday–Friday: 8:30 AM–7:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM

Sunday: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM

Approximately 10–20 hours per week are available, with scheduling based on availability and the needs of the shop. Additional availability during our busy holiday season is an asset.
