Office is located in Enderby, BC. If location is an issue, we have staff that make the commute daily from surrounding cities and car pooling is an option!

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:

The Safety Coordinator will work with Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) managerial team and crews. This team consists of professional Environmental, Cultural Heritage, Forestry, Construction - Residential and Civil, and Splatsin Homes management and staff. The Yucwmenlúcwu team provides technical support to the Splatsin community and professional forestry, environmental, and archaeology services to our many clients and partners.

The approach is focused on the protection and conservation of resources and their connection to Secwepemc people, culture, and traditions.

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this position supports the day-to-day coordination of the Yucwmenlúcwu Health and Safety program, including coordinating check-ins for field technicians, maintaining safety-related communication devices, and assisting with site safety audits and reports.

Administrative & Reporting Duties (90%)

- Support the day-to-day coordination and administration of the Company's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program under the direction of the Health & Safety Manager.
- Maintain health and safety policies, procedures, safe work practices, and related documentation, and draft updates for review and approval by the Health & Safety Manager.
- Maintain safety communication systems, bulletin boards, alerts, and employee safety resources.
- Track Company safety registrations, certifications, licenses, and compliance requirements, and flag upcoming renewals to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Track employee training, certifications, and competency requirements, and send reminders for upcoming renewals.




- Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, and distribute action items.
- Monitor, track, and follow up on corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, incidents, and safety meetings.
- Maintain organized and accurate health and safety records in accordance with regulatory and Company requirements.
- Assist with incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including completion and submission of WorkSafeBC documentation and reporting requirements.
- Compile health and safety data, statistics, and compliance documentation to support reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Inventory, restock, and maintain first aid supplies, emergency response equipment, medical cabinets, and field safety kits.
- Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compliance & Program Support (5%)

- Prepare and submit Company safety registrations, regulatory filings, and compliance documentation as directed.
- Respond to routine questions from supervisors and employees about health and safety policies and procedures, and refer complex or regulatory matters to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Track and report on compliance with Company safety programs, protected work procedures, and legislative requirements to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Participate in workplace inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments, and document findings for review by the Health & Safety Manager.
- Assist with the rollout of health and safety programs and initiatives.
- Log safety concerns, hazards, and workplace incidents, and track them through to resolution.

Training, Engagement & Field Support (5%)

- Schedule and deliver new employee health and safety orientations using established materials.
- Track orientation completion and training records, and report any gaps to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Encourage employee participation in health and safety initiatives through communication and awareness activities.
- Conduct field visits and routine worksite inspections using established checklists, and report findings.




- Provide on-site safety reminders and deliver assigned safety training to employees as required.
- Help promote a positive safety culture through employee engagement and awareness activities.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Experience supporting health and safety programs in office, field, and operational environments.
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, and compliance monitoring.
- Strong organizational, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and PDF editing software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver training.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and willingness to travel to worksites as required.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
