Join our flock as a Sales Associate and Backyard Bird Feeding Specialist, where your enthusiasm for nature and customer service will shine! In this dynamic role, you will engage with customers to share your expertise on bird feeding products and outdoor accessories, helping them create beautiful, bird-friendly habitats in their own back yards. Our ideal new flock member is charismatic, outgoing, personable and energetic. You have a get it done and get it done right attitude, and you've got grit. You are a quick learner with swift comprehension and meticulous retention of complex information and systems. You are a hard worker and are punctual and reliable. You are able to work a variety of 9-5 weekday and weekend shifts. You have consistent availability, are active, fit and can lift up to 50 lbs.

We are a locally owned small business. Full training is provided for suitable and passionate candidates. This position is seasonal (until march) but may lead to permanent employment for the right fit.

Responsibilities

- Complete the Wild Birds Unlimited Certified Bird Feeding Specialist program
- Greet customers warmly, providing exceptional service and expert advice on bird feeding products, outdoor accessories, and related merchandise
- Conduct engaging product demonstrations to showcase features and benefits of bird feeders, seed blends, and wildlife supplies
- Assist customers in selecting the right products based on their needs, preferences, and outdoor spaces
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for transactions, cash handling, and receipts while ensuring quick checkout processes
- Upsell complementary products such as bird baths, feeders, seed varieties,



and outdoor decor to enhance customer satisfaction and sales
- Keep the sales floor organized, clean, and well-stocked to provide an inviting shopping environment
- Manage time effectively during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail in customer interactions
- Unload and put away heavy shipments
- Mantain proper food product rotation (first in-first out)

Skills

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain product features clearly and confidently in English.
- Prior experience in retail sales or customer service environments preferred; experience with POS systems is advantageous
- Knowledge of backyard bird feeding products or wildlife supplies is highly desirable; technical sales experience is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently during peak hours
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and performing simple calculations for upselling opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with diverse customers through friendly phone etiquette and active listening

Pay: From $18.25 per hour
