Industrial Sandblaster / Painter

Location: Sarnia, Ontario

Position: Full time, permanent

ProMart Industrial is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Industrial Sandblaster / Painter to join our coatings team.

Our 25,000 square foot climate controlled coating facility supports major projects across the industrial, nuclear, mining, infrastructure, data centre, and defense sectors. We are looking for someone who understands that a quality coating system starts with proper surface preparation and takes pride in doing the job right from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

- Abrasive blast structural steel, fabricated components, equipment, and miscellaneous metals

- Prepare surfaces to the required cleanliness and surface profile in accordance with project specifications

- Remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, grease, dirt, and other surface contaminants

- Mask threads, machined surfaces, identification markings, and other areas that must remain uncoated

- Mix and prepare coatings according to manufacturer requirements, including correct ratios, induction times, and thinning requirements

- Apply primers, intermediate coats, and finish coats using airless spray equipment, conventional spray equipment, rollers, and brushes

- Complete stripe coating and touch ups where required

- Monitor and record environmental conditions, including air temperature, surface temperature, relative humidity, and dew point

- Measure and verify wet and dry film thickness as required

- Identify surface preparation, application,



or coating concerns and report them before work continues

- Follow coating specifications, technical data sheets, safety data sheets, and project requirements

- Maintain material identification, coating batch information, and required production records

- Operate and maintain blasting pots, spray pumps, hoses, nozzles, compressors, ventilation systems, and related equipment

- Move and position materials safely using forklifts and overhead cranes when qualified

- Keep blasting and painting areas clean, organized, and ready for production

- Work closely with supervisors, inspectors, material handlers, and fabrication personnel to meet project schedules

- Follow all ProMart safety, environmental, quality, and operating procedures

What We Are Looking For

- Previous industrial sandblasting or coatings experience

- Experience preparing and coating structural steel or industrial fabricated components is strongly preferred

- Knowledge of abrasive blasting standards, surface cleanliness, and surface profile requirements

- Experience applying industrial epoxy, zinc, urethane, and other protective coating systems

- Experience using airless spray equipment and industrial blasting equipment

- The ability to read coating specifications, technical data sheets, and work instructions

- An understanding of environmental conditions, recoat windows, mixing ratios,



induction times, and film thickness requirements

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work

- The ability to safely wear all required personal protective equipment and pass respirator fit testing

- The ability to perform physical work, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in blasting and painting environments throughout a full shift

- Forklift and overhead crane experience is an asset

- AMPP or previous NACE and SSPC training is an asset

- A valid driver’s licence is an asset

- Dependable attendance and punctuality

- The ability to work afternoon shifts and overtime when required
