As the Senior Internal Communications Advisor at the Ministry of Transportation, you will serve as a trusted communications advisor, helping bring the ministry's vision, priorities and culture to life for employees across Ontario. Working closely with the Deputy Minister's office, senior leaders and ministry partners, you will develop and deliver engaging communications, provide strategic advice and support leadership communications across the organization.

About the job In this role, you will:
lead the communications planning team in developing, coordinating and implementing strategic internal communications plans and initiatives provide expert communications advice and support to ministry partners, program teams and senior leaders to develop effective strategies and consistent messaging apply political acuity to assess the organizational workplace, anticipate emerging issues and provide strategic communications advice to support effective, timely and employee-focused communications lead or participate in ministry-wide or inter-ministerial communication and marketing initiatives oversee the development, editing and publication of internal newsletters and intranet content, ensuring high-quality, accessible and consistent messaging
What you bring to the team Strategic and digital communications skills understand the theories, techniques and processes used to develop and deliver integrated multimedia communications through internal and external channels, including digital and video storytelling content, and traditional communications products plan, coordinate and manage strategic internal communications plans and initiatives in alignment with ministry goals and objectives, including employee awareness, engagement and organizational priorities apply knowledge of digital communications trends,
audience behaviours and emerging platforms to enhance the effectiveness and reach of communications initiatives understand ministry strategic directions, programs, policies and priorities, and provide advice and communications support on emerging, sensitive and contentious issues
Research and analytical skills identify and assess organizational trends, emerging issues and communications considerations provide strategic advice based on research and analysis investigate and assess the relevance of information and emerging issues/trends
Project management and leadership skills lead and/or participate in cross-branch teams, ministry, and cross-ministry projects/committees plan and coordinate concurrent projects to meet deadlines evaluate strategic communication plans/strategies for short/long-term impact on audience and ensure consistency with ministry goals and objectives build effective relationships with senior leaders and ministry partners to support communications initiatives and secure approvals
Writing, editing, and presentation skills prepare strategic communications materials that support awareness, understanding and alignment with ministry priorities, programs and initiatives provide strategic communications advice to senior management, ministry policy and program staff develop presentations that communicate key messages, support organizational objectives and facilitate understanding and engagement on communications initiatives and ministry priorities write, edit and tailor communications products for a variety of audiences and channels, ensuring clarity, consistency and accessibility
