The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Core Network Design - The Service Designer will be responsible for delivery of projects which require OSP/ISP network design to bring new residential and commercial buildings on net to Beanfield network by reviewing the existing OSP/ISP fibre and port capacity both at the customer premise and Beanfield point of presence. This position will be responsible for the accurate documentation of all network connectivity, implementation instruction and customer connectivity as-build in a variety of systems. This key position will work closely with Sr. fibre Designers and the OSP construction division to ensure all project requirements are met.

What You’ll Do

- Accountable for the delivery of circuit designs considering optical fibre reach,
- design efficiency, network reliability, redundancy, and scalability.
- Responsible for maintaining data integrity of all databases through timely
- review, completion,



and entry of As-build records into Patch Manager and
- ISP/OSP repository archives.
- Plan end-to-end fibre solution and/or provide instructions to Implementation
- staff and engineering contractors for the successful delivery of plan.
- Accurately document fibre details on existing fibre asset and take all necessary
- steps to ensure data integrity of the fibre network is maintained.
- Complete projects in accordance with engineering specifications, planning
- requirements and delivered on time.
- Produce Splice diagrams, KMZs, Review, and update As-built information in
- Patch Manager, keep track of fiber and port availability in the Network,
- maximize use of fiber architecture with every design.
- Provide support for the operation, maintenance, and restoration of the fibre
- network.
- Responsible for providing Field Technical staff with support during circuit
- implementation and customer outages as required (including participation of
- an on-call rotation and overtime).
- Interpret OTDR/CD/PMD traces, loss measurements and other fibre
- characterization specifications for circuit acceptance.
- Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

- University Degree or College Diploma in computer science, engineering, or
- related work experience.
- Prior experience in the Telecommunication industry is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to quickly learn on the job and leverage experiences and knowledge.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. The salary range indicated includes a Short Term Incentive Plan (“STIP”) which represents a percentage of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The STIP payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures. The STIP payment is conditional upon meeting all of the STIP’s eligibility requirements.
