As a Site Superintendent at Kiwi Newton Group, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
The Site
Superintendent coordinates site activities, subcontractors, trades, materials, and equipment while maintaining explicit communication with the Project Manager, site team, and other stakeholders. This role also ensures compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, and applicable building codes and regulations.
Position Details:
- 41 Massey Rd, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, N1H 7M6
- Monday to Friday, 7am-5:00pm
- Full-time
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working site meeting all company and legal standards
- Coordinates and supervises all construction activities
- Perform and maintain all site and building layout
- Directs all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that confirms to original plans and specifications
- Handles on-site paperwork for project including but not limited to daily work reports, delivery packing slips, and credit card receipts, and weekly look-ahead schedules
- Follow company purchasing procedures while ordering or receiving any needed material and equipment with delegate authority
- Ability to read and fully comprehend the project plans and specifications
- Conduct safety orientations for all contractors
- Ability to preplan all construction activities in order to seamless follow the project construction schedule
- Ability to plan, coordinate and conduct bi-weekly subcontractor progress meetings including recording and distributing meeting minutes
- Ability to review monthly contractor pay applications and verify the percent of actual work complete
- Ability to review and verify submittals according to plan details as well as work in place
- Maintain a positive and respectful relationships with owners, engineers,
architects, subcontractors, suppliers and other employees
- Communicates at all times with the Project Management team
- Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately
- Maintain an organized job site and office
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Organization: Very organized with systematic approach task to achieve accuracy and efficiency
- Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effect listening skills
- Problem Solving: analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risk, implications, and cost
- Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with and manage diverse personalities while being a team player
- Highly Motivated: self-starting, highly motivated and goal oriented individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in reading drawings – Structural, Architectural, Civil
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline
- Excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality
- Professionally and technically competent
- Post-secondary education or equivalent combinations of technical training plus commercial construction experience.
- Knowledge of Procore and Sage Timberline considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license required
