Madhatters Studios is growing, and we’re looking for another creative person to join our team.

We’re a Lethbridge-based marketing and social media studio creating content for businesses across a lot of different industries. One minute we’re editing content for a candle company, the next we’re working with a contractor, an event, a local business or something completely different.

That variety is part of what makes this job fun. It also means we need someone who can switch gears quickly.

This is not only a short-form video editing role, but also opportunities for occasional filming in Lethbridge and surrounding areas.

And we want to be clear about what we're looking for:

We don't just need someone who knows where the buttons are in CapCut or Edits.

We need someone who understands social media.

Someone who knows the first two seconds matter. Someone who notices when an edit drags. Someone who understands that a great Reel doesn't need 47 transitions, but also knows when a video needs more energy.

If you're already mentally editing videos while you watch them, you'll probably fit in pretty well here.

What you'll actually do

Most of your time will be spent taking raw footage and turning it into polished short-form content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and Facebook.

That includes

- Editing vertical short-form videos
- Finding the strongest hooks and moments within raw footage
- Adding on-screen text, captions, music, transitions and effects when they actually add something
- Following different client brand styles and creative direction
- Making revisions based on feedback
- Keeping up with current social media editing styles and trends
- Managing multiple edits and deadlines at the same time
- Collaborating with our team through Rella
- Occasionally joining us for local filming sessions





Our studio currently produces roughly 30 pieces of content each week across our client roster. You won't be editing all of them, but you will be joining a fast-moving workflow with multiple brands, deadlines and personalities.

Organization matters here just as much as creativity.

You'll probably love this role if...

You're the person who notices a Reel could have been 12 seconds shorter.

You understand why some videos immediately feel like ads and get scrolled past.

You can take direction without needing every single cut explained to you.

You have your own creative instincts and aren't afraid to use them.

You're comfortable receiving feedback, making changes and moving on to the next project.

And most importantly, when you say something will be done, we can trust that it will be done.

We're a small team. Reliability matters a lot.

What we're looking for

- Experience editing short-form video content
- A strong understanding of Instagram Reels and TikTok
- Positive pacing and storytelling instincts
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable communication and time management
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to adapt your editing style between completely different brands
- Comfort working with feedback and revisions

Experience with CapCut and/or Edits is an asset.

Agency experience, marketing education or a specific number of years in the industry isn't required.

If your portfolio is great and you understand social content, we want to see it.

The details

- Contract position
- $25 - $30/hour depending on experience
- Approximately 15–20 hours per month to start
- Primarily remote editing
- Flexible working hours within agreed-upon deadlines
- Occasional filming opportunities in Lethbridge and surrounding areas
- Access to Rella provided for our internal workflow
- Potential for additional hours as our client roster grows
- This is a contractor position, so you'll be responsible for managing your own schedule, equipment, taxes and invoicing.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 5.0 per week
