POSITION FUNCTION





Under the supervision of the Manager of BC Settlement and Integration Services, the Employment Specialist is responsible for providing a wide range of services including case management, facilitation, and job recruitment. The Employment Specialist engages in activities with employers, community organizations, and clients to meet contractual targets.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Identify trends and opportunities in the labour market and current business sector.
- Maintain a working knowledge of local employment opportunities
- Assisting clients with resume and cover letter writing, interview skills and job search skills
- Facilitate, and/or represent the organization at employer and community events (e.g. job fairs, employer hiring events, industry presentations, etc.)
- Solicit job postings and inform staff and clients (via email, job boards, etc.)
- Engage in placement activities such as cold calling, follow-up on job leads, gathering job postings, communication of opportunities to staff and clients, and securing paid and unpaid work experiences
- Organize and deliver group sessions and workshops as necessary
- Market clients for employment, and arranging and monitoring client work experience, in collaboration with employment programs and other service providers.
- Maintain and provide data on participant progress, services delivered, and employer contacts in the format prescribed by either the funder or the department
- Regularly inform the coordinator or manager of participant progress, achievement of outcomes, and development of employer relations
- Regularly inform the coordinator or manager of ongoing activities, achievement of outcomes, and the development of employer and community relations
- Other Duties as assigned by the coordinator or manager specific to this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree, certificate or diploma in a relevant field (career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, marketing, education, psychology, sociology, human services counselling, education, human resource management or business management or High school graduation with appropriate combination of courses,



training, and experience.
- Knowledge of Employment, Refugee & settlement Services, existing program activities and services, local labour market conditions, community resources, employer relations, immigrant settlement issues and needs; working knowledge of newcomer experiences in Canada, especially refugees and refugee claimants, International Students, and Temporary Foreign Workers; Microsoft Office suite; standard office equipment;, database(s)
- Ability to communicate in English and in Spanish or Farsi
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to resolve issues
- Ability to build partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders
- Able to build rapport with clients
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required

COMPENSATION: $28.58 - $31.03 per hour

HOURS

Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Fixed term position until March 31, 2027.

The successful candidate must be able to commute to the 5575 Boundary Rd., Vancouver, British Columbia

V5R 2P9 and 310 & 315 - 7155 Kingsway Burnaby, British Columbia V5E 2V1
