We're looking for an experienced Surveyor to support our construction operations, ensuring projects are built to design specifications and municipal standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a Surveyor with construction survey experience to join our team, supporting municipal infrastructure projects from pre-construction layout through as-built documentation. The ideal candidate is comfortable working closely with site supervisors, engineers, and municipal inspectors, and can manage field survey work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform construction layout and staking for municipal projects (roads, watermains, sanitary/storm sewers, curbs, sidewalks, grading, and site servicing)
- Conduct pre-construction topographic surveys and existing conditions verification
- Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control on active construction sites
- Calculate and stake cut/fill grades, offsets, and elevations from engineering drawings
- Prepare as-built surveys and record drawings for municipal submission and project closeout
- Operate and maintain GPS systems, total stations, and robotic instruments
- Interpret engineering drawings, municipal specifications, and contract documents
- Coordinate daily with site supervisors, foremen, project managers, and municipal inspectors




- Verify survey work against municipal approval requirements and contract tolerances
- Maintain accurate field notes, survey records, and quantity documentation to support progress claims
- Troubleshoot layout discrepancies and resolve conflicts between design and field conditions

Qualifications

- Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying, with construction/municipal infrastructure experience strongly preferred
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Survey Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Experience staking road, sewer, and watermain projects is a robust asset
- Working toward or holding Ontario Land Surveyor (OLS) licensure an asset, but not required for this construction-focused role
- Proficiency with survey software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D) and robotic total stations
- Familiarity with municipal tender documents, and contract drawings
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license and clean driving record
- Comfortable working on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Robust communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently under tight schedules
- Working at Heights, WHMIS, and Construction Safety certifications an asset (or willingness to obtain)

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
