Summary

Reporting to the Team Leader and Line Leader, the Packaging Operator is responsible for operating the packaging machinery and / or any applicable machinery. The Packaging Operator will also work closely and provide backup as needed to the Team Leader in order to ensure the packaging line produces a conisistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards.

In this position you will work in a team environment led by a Team Leader. You will support your Team Leader by demonstrating and practicing team work every day and respect all your fellow Team Members.

Primary Responsibilities

- Assists the Team Leader in fostering an environment of mutual respect and teamwork Leads, coaches, mentors and trains other Team Members as needed by the Team Leader
- Verifying proper packaging materials and ensuring proper product is being placed within the packaging
- Operates and manages labelling machine efficiently
- Responsible for controlling Critical Control Point (Date Coder, Metal Detector, UV Light, etc.)
- Ensures Operations Management System (OMS) procedures are being followed (entering inventory into the operating system)
- Follows VQS (visual quality standards)
- Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing FGF standards & follows-up on inspections
- Reports any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate parties
- Cleans up the area during and after shift is over
- Supports return to stock and returns packaging materials after production is done




- Follows all GMP’s and Safety Procedures as outlined by FGF
- May be asked by Shift Leader to perform general labor duties when needed as well as be assigned additional duties

Required Experience

- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
- Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the role including frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
- Versatile to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
