Scope

Are you passionate about music education and inspiring others through violin? Join the City of Surrey's culture division and play a meaningful role in enriching our arts community. Help foster creativity, skill development, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Clayton Community Arts is currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Violin Instructor to plan and teach violin lessons and programs for the Winter and Spring 2027 seasons and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to work with learners of all ages and contribute to community arts programming.

Responsibilities

- Provide high-quality private violin instruction to participants of varying ages, skill levels, and learning styles.
- Foster student growth, confidence, and musical development through engaging and supportive instruction.
- Create and maintain a secure, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize instructional spaces and equipment before and after lessons.

Required skills include:




- Ability to design age-appropriate lessons and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs and abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with participants and staff.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for fostering creativity, musical development, and lifelong learning through the arts.

Qualifications

We are looking for dynamic, creative leaders with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the performing arts. Our ideal candidates are effective communicators with strong classroom management skills. The successful candidate must have:

- Degree or Diploma in Music, Performance or a related field.
- Minimum two years' experience teaching music and a thorough understanding of music pedagogy.
- Certified RCM Instructor, having completed minimum Level 10 RCM education.
- Current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C certificate.
- A Valid BC Driver's License is an asset.

Number of Job Openings: 1 Pay Grade: $37.18

Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
