Canada Post is looking for an on-call
Post Office Assistant
to join their retail team in
Québec, QC
(also covering the Lac Saint-Charles location). This is a
temporary, on-call position
suited for someone who enjoys working with the public and thrives in a customer-focused retail environment.
Day-to-day, you'll be the face of the post office — helping customers with
postal products and services , processing mail, handling
cash transactions , and resolving delivery concerns on the spot. If you're comfortable on your feet and enjoy diverse work, this role keeps things moving.

Post Office Assistant
at Canada Post, your primary focus will be delivering reliable counter service to both the public and the business community. You'll sell
postal products and services , sort and distribute mail into appropriate classifications, and provide customers with the information and forms they need. When delivery or service issues arise, you'll be expected to address them thoroughly and efficiently.
This role requires someone who can
work independently
in a fast-paced retail environment while upholding Canada Post's core values of Trust, Respect, and Deliver. You'll need to be
physically capable
of lifting mail containers up to 50 lb, standing for extended periods, and handling the physical demands of postal operations. Flexibility is key — this is an
on-call position , so availability for short-notice shifts is essential.

Responsibilities Working at the post office counter, you'll handle a mix of customer service, mail handling, and administrative tasks on a daily basis. These responsibilities are central to keeping postal operations running smoothly and ensuring every customer leaves with their needs met.
Sell
postal products and services to members of the public and the business community
Sort and distribute
mail accurately into appropriate classifications
Provide
customers with relevant information, forms, and guidance
Resolve
delivery and service difficulties thoroughly and promptly
Handle
cash transactions accurately in a retail setting
Lift
mail containers weighing up to 50 lb and perform other physical tasks as required
Requirements / Skills Canada Post is looking for a candidate who is comfortable engaging with the public, has a solid foundation in basic business or retail operations, and can adapt to the flexible demands of an on-call schedule. The ideal applicant will bring a reliable, customer-first attitude and the physical readiness the job requires.
High school diploma
or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration
Experience interacting with the public
in a retail or service environment, including sales and cash handling
Understanding of general or post office accounting systems
Physical fitness
to lift containers up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail, and stand for extended periods
Flexibility
to be available for temporary, on-call work as needed
French language proficiency
— French is essential for this position
High school or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration; training and/or experience interacting with the public in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions; understanding of general or post office accounting systems.
