About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Safety Manager with extensive experience in mining operations to lead their safety initiatives in a remote-first capacity. This critical leadership role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs designed to protect employees, contractors, and the environment. You will champion a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance across all mining sites. Develop and implement robust health and safety management systems tailored for mining operations. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Lead incident investigations, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for all levels of personnel. Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to all national and international safety standards and legislation. Promote and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization,



encouraging employee engagement in safety initiatives. Manage the occupational health program, including health surveillance and emergency preparedness. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Advanced safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) are highly desirable. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in health and safety management, with a substantial portion focused on mining operations . Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001). In-depth knowledge of mining regulations, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, essential for driving change in a remote setting.
