Reporting to the Director of Development Services or designate, the successful candidate will provide staff, and construction and contract management for the City’s capital programs. This will involve working collaboratively with internal staff, consultants, contractors, and interdepartmentally within other City of Dawson Creek departments.What You’ll Do:The work of the Capital Projects Manager involves:People ManagementRelationship ManagementContract administration and oversightEngineering based work involving the civil, mechanical, structural and electrical fields, including:Project scopingCapital budget developmentEngaging the services of professional engineering consultantsManaging the design and delivery of engineering projectsResponding to public inquiriesProviding technical support to internal departmentsReviewing design drawingsMentoring junior staffParticipating in inter-departmental projectsThe successful candidate will possess strong project management skills and have a strong understanding of:Construction practices of municipal infrastructureContract complianceChange management processesContract close outThe candidate will be well organized and have strong communication skills.Requirements:A minimum two year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institutionMinimum of 5 years of directly related experienceRegistration as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC and/or the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta or equivalentA valid BC Class 5 Driver’s LicenseProficiency with computer-based engineering applications including AutoCADExperience with multiple survey principles including GPSProject Management Skilled (PMP) certification may be considered an assetCandidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be consideredThe ideal candidate possesses the capacity to perform all duties in a safe manner while fostering positive relationships with both the public and fellow staff.The City of Dawson Creek is committed to accommodating persons with disabilities whenever reasonably possible during the selection and employment process.
