More information is available on the website.About the PositionThe General Accountant supports Finance management in implementing an appropriate system of accounting and financial controls. The role focuses on transitional aged youth reporting for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (TAY-MCCSS) and involves audits, fiscal end, month end and funder reporting. The incumbent ensures accurate and timely reconciliations of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.Financial Analysis, Consolidated Reporting and Monthly Internal ReportingPrepare periodic forecasting for MCCSS programsAssist in the monthly preparation of internal financial statementsAssist in the preparation of funder reports as assignedPrepare ad hoc analytical review schedules tailored to stakeholder requirementsAnalyze reporting requests and define user needs and production methodsAssist with variances and other reports as requestedGeneral Ledger Reconciliations and Month EndReconcile the TAY master tracker to the GL on a monthly basisOversee the payable cycle for the MCCSS‑TAY programReconcile various balance sheet accounts on a monthly basisIdentify issues from the reconciliation process and follow up with related staffSupport month and fiscal end closing procedures and financial reporting package preparationPrepare/oversee client/OPR reconciliations as requiredIdentify areas for increased efficiency and assist in efficient month end closingOther ResponsibilitiesOther duties as assigned by the Finance and Management TeamMaintain confidentiality of records at all timesWork with Finance and Management team to implement new policies and procedures and best practices for financial analysis, tracking and reportingAssist in preparing a complete set of audit working papers for the annual financial auditRespond to finance-related inquiries from program staffMaintain understanding of financial reporting software, stay current on all modules and provide training to other staff as neededWork cooperatively and constructively with other members and external stakeholdersQualificationsKnowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of Great Plains is an assetAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft ExcelStrong time management skills, ability to prioritize and respond to urgent situations while meeting competing deadlinesAttention to detail and excellent organizational skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProficiency with other Microsoft software (Word, SharePoint, Teams,
