Enhance the academic journey of Indigenous students as a Peer Mentor at Okanagan College. This on-call role is centered on community support and skillful engagement.
In your position, you will work under the supervision of the Indigenous Access & Services Coordinator and assist fellow students in navigating their college experience. Through scheduled meetings and collaborative efforts, you’ll support social events and promote a welcoming environment in the Indigenous Centre, enhancing peer connections and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Actively participate in peer mentor training sessions
• Guide peers in understanding Indigenous Access Services
• Encourage involvement in social events and initiatives
• Keep the Indigenous Centre organized and welcoming
• Attend and contribute to IAS and campus events
Requirements:
• Minimum of 1 year in a recognized post-secondary program
• Enrollment at Okanagan College required
• Desire to learn about Aboriginal culture
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic internet skills
• Robust interpersonal and cheerful attitude
