Buyer – Duties and Responsibilities

The Buyer is a key link in the company’s procurement and commercial operations. The position involves a variety of responsibilities, including:
Negotiating with suppliers and identifying recent suppliers when required.
Reviewing purchase requisitions in accordance with established procedures.
Analyzing supplier proposals and negotiating prices and delivery schedules.
Issuing purchase orders and obtaining drawings and manufacturing specifications when required.




Following up with suppliers to ensure products are delivered in accordance with required deadlines.
Issuing requests for quotations (RFQs) to suppliers and selecting those who best meet the company’s needs.
Resolving potential commercial and financial disputes.
Negotiating purchasing conditions, including quality, price, and delivery.
Continuously monitoring the market, including changes in demand and product characteristics.
Developing monthly, quarterly, or annual purchasing plans.

Qualifications and Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or a College Diploma (DEC) in a related field, with a minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Buyer, ideally in a technical setting.
Solid communication and organizational skills.
Strong ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and achieve results.
Quick learner with strong negotiation skills.
Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
Customer service or account management experience is a major asset.
Knowledge of an MRP/ERP system is an asset.
