Technical Sales Representative – Building Components

Location: Acheson, AB

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $55,000–$65,000

The Opportunity

Our client is an established manufacturer and supplier of engineered wood products and building components serving residential and commercial construction throughout Alberta. They are looking for a Technical Sales Representative to join their Acheson team. This is an inside technical sales position that sits at the centre of sales, design, production and delivery , helping ensure projects move smoothly from initial drawings through to the job site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in lumber, building materials, trusses, engineered wood products or construction who enjoys the technical and coordination side of the business. You don't need to be a designer, but you do need to understand building materials, be comfortable reviewing construction drawings and have the ability to figure out what is required to successfully complete a project.

What You'll Do

- Review architectural and construction drawings to understand project requirements.
- Review takeoffs and material lists for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate roof truss, floor system, EWP and lumber package requirements.
- Work closely with sales representatives and designers to ensure projects are accurately quoted and ordered.
- Assist customers and sales representatives with product selection and technical questions.
- Coordinate projects from order through design, production and delivery.
- Monitor project schedules and communicate updates to customers and internal teams.
- Ensure the correct materials and components are included with each project.
- Coordinate changes, revisions and additional material requirements as projects progress.
- Work with production and shipping teams to ensure orders are completed and delivered according to schedule.
- Identify potential issues before they impact production or delivery.
- Maintain accurate project,



order and customer information.
- Provide responsive, knowledgeable customer service throughout the project.

What You Bring

- Experience in lumber, building materials, engineered wood products, roof trusses, floor systems or residential construction .
- Previous inside sales, contractor sales, estimating, project coordination or technical sales experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Understanding of lumber and building component terminology.
- Experience with takeoffs, estimating or material lists is a strong asset.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfortable working with sales, design, production, shipping and customers.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn industry-specific software.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to continue developing your technical knowledge.

You're equally comfortable talking with a customer, working through a material list with a salesperson or checking with design and production to determine where a project stands.
