Technical SharePoint & ECM Migration Specialist
Pay Rate: Flexible- Hybrid
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Contract Length: 6 Months
We at Raise are We are looking for an experienced Technical SharePoint & ECM Migration Specialist to support a major enterprise migration from OpenText Content Server to SharePoint Online .
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands both sides of the migration — enterprise content management platforms and Microsoft SharePoint — and can lead the assessment, planning, technical design, migration and transition to operations.
What You’ll Do Lead the technical planning and execution of an enterprise OpenText Content Server → SharePoint Online migration
Assess existing Content Server repositories, structures, metadata, permissions, workflows and business usage
Develop migration strategies, content mapping and site/library structures
Map OpenText metadata, categories and attributes to SharePoint content types and managed metadata
Lead content cleanup, reorganization and pre-migration preparation
Configure and administer SharePoint Online / Modern SharePoint
Design SharePoint sites, libraries, permissions, user groups and business workflows
Develop scripts and technical solutions to automate migration activities
Troubleshoot complex migration issues including deep folder structures, long paths, unsupported characters, large repositories, custom workflows, plugins and other platform limitations
Ensure preservation of metadata, permissions, version history, audit information and original document attributes
Develop approaches for preserving links and references to migrated Content Server content
Develop requirements and technical solutions for immutable Content Server backups and restoration for audit purposes
Provide OpenText Content Server and SharePoint technical/operational support
Lead pilot migrations,



migration waves and technical transition to operations
Develop migration procedures, technical documentation, checklists and best practices
Provide technical guidance to project teams, administrators and business stakeholders
What We’re Looking For Must Have 5+ years of hands-on OpenText Content Server / OpenText Content Suite / Livelink experience
5+ years of hands-on SharePoint administration and migration experience
Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to enterprise ECM/content repository migrations to SharePoint
Strong knowledge of OpenText Content Server: Repository and folder structures
Metadata/categories/attributes
User and group permissions
Workflows
Versioning
Data extraction/connectivity
Administration and operational support

Strong SharePoint Online / Modern SharePoint technical skills
Experience with SharePoint information architecture, sites, libraries, content types, managed metadata and permissions
Experience with migration scripting/automation
Strong understanding of data governance, audit and compliance requirements
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex content migration issues
Strongly Preferred Direct experience migrating OpenText Content Server to SharePoint is highly preferred.
We will also consider candidates with substantial experience migrating comparable enterprise ECM platforms such as:
IBM FileNet / IBM Content Manager
Documentum
Hyland OnBase
Alfresco
Laserfiche
M-Files
Other enterprise ECM/content-management platforms
For alternative ECM backgrounds,



candidates should demonstrate hands-on enterprise ECM → SharePoint migration experience , rather than simply ECM administration.
Education University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred.
Equivalent technical experience will be considered.
