Intermediate Electrical Designer – Residential Buildings

Location: Scarborough, ON
Compensation: $100,000 annually + General Bonus
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

About Our Client

Our client is one of Toronto's most cutting-edge and leading construction companies, specializing in high-quality residential developments with a strong focus on architectural quality, innovation, and service excellence.

They are currently seeking an experienced Intermediate Electrical Designer with strong residential/building design experience to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

- Design electrical systems primarily for residential building projects.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and specifications.
- Use AutoCAD as the primary design software.
- Perform electrical load calculations and lighting design.
- Design power distribution, circuiting, fire alarm, and security systems.
- Perform generator sizing and related electrical calculations.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical engineers, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Ontario codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct site visits and site reviews as required.
- Provide technical support and assist throughout the construction phase.




- Assist with permit documentation and respond to comments or requests from authorities having jurisdiction.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as a Residential/Building Electrical Designer.
- 3–5 years of local Canadian experience.
- Previous experience working for a Canadian engineering or consulting firm is strongly preferred.
- Strong and proven AutoCAD experience is required.
- Experience with Revit is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Ontario Building Code (OBC), and applicable CSA standards.
- Bachelor's degree or other relevant education/background in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field.
- P.Eng. designation is not mandatory but would be considered an asset.
- A valid driver's licence is required.
- Must be able to reliably commute to Scarborough, ON.
- Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Experience specifically with residential buildings and building electrical systems is highly valued.
