About The RoleAs a Claims Consultant in our Specialty Lines team, you will handle complex multi‑line claims through all distribution channels in Central and Western Canada, focusing on E&O;, D&O;, Crime, and Cyber claims.What You’ll Do HereAssess coverage under the respective policies and communicate coverage positions or issues with underwriters, brokers, and insureds.Assess exposures and determine appropriate reserves.Retain the services of internal or external panel legal counsel and other support services when necessary.Lead, supervise, guide, and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling.Train colleagues on complex claim handling procedures.Work with Underwriting to identify potential risks and trends, and support marketing efforts.Provide excellent customer service to brokers, insureds, and colleagues.Deliver and exceed on all key performance indicators related to loss development, claims leakage control, and expense management.Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous‑improvement environment to support best‑practice operations.Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate.Attend settlement conferences and trials.What You Bring To The Table10+ years’ experience with direct handling of large and complex Errors and Omissions (E&O;) and Directors and Officers (D&O;) claims.Experience in specialty lines such as Cyber or Crime is an asset.University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.Critical thinking and intellectual curiosity for complex,
