As a MiVolunteer General Volunteer, you join our community of volunteers who give their time to support organizations, community initiatives, events, and causes across our communities.

General Volunteers do not have an assigned position or ongoing responsibility within MiVolunteer. Instead, you can browse available volunteer opportunities and sign up for the ones that interest you, whether you are looking to volunteer occasionally, complete community service hours, gain experience, or simply give back.

What You Can Do

Depending on the opportunity, volunteers may assist with:

Community events and initiatives

Event support and operations

Community outreach

Social media and content projects

Administrative or organizational tasks

Community service projects

Supporting charities, organizations, and local initiatives

Other volunteer activities listed through MiVolunteer

You are not required to participate in every opportunity. You can choose the opportunities that fit your interests, availability, location, and schedule.

Volunteer Hours





MiVolunteer tracks participation in eligible opportunities so volunteers can receive recognition for the time they contribute. Where applicable, volunteers can receive a Certificate of Hours following their completed volunteer service.

Whether you are a high school student completing community involvement hours, a university student, an adult looking to give back, or simply someone who wants to help, MiVolunteer provides opportunities for you to get involved.

How It Works

- Sign up

Register for the chance and select the available shift or activity that works for you.
- Volunteer

Attend and complete the volunteer activity as described in the opportunity listing.
- Receive recognition

Your completed service can be recorded by MiVolunteer, with applicable hours recognized through our volunteer records and Certificates of Hours.

There is no minimum number of opportunities you need to complete. Volunteer when you can, choose opportunities that interest you, and contribute to your community on your own schedule.
