Job location: Gesgapegiag Early Childhood Center, Gesgapegiag, QC.
Date of assumption of duties: October 2026 to August 2027. Possibility of extension. 35 Hrs a week
Remuneration: TBD, Based on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of The Gesgapegiag Early Childhood Center Director , the spceialized educator is responsible to intervene with children having physical, intellectual or affective disabilities by prevention and education.

The challenges of the job are:

- Assess children’s skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
- Adapt lessons to meet children’s needs
- Develop individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each child.
- Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each child’s ability
- Implement IEPs, assess children’s performance, and track their progress
- Update IEPs on a regular basis to reflect children’s progress and goals

Qualifications

- College diploma in Specialized Education or another relevant field is mandatory
- Minimum of one (1)



year of experience in a relevant field
- Experience with special needs students, children or clients
- Good computer skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Mi’gmaq and French languages an asset
- Excellent ability to communicate and maintain positive relations with parents, children and staff
- Ability to maintain confidentialityMust have valid Medicare card
- Must have clean criminal record
