Position: Legal Assistant – Insurance Defence

Salary: $50,000 - $75,000, Depending on Experience
Position Summary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Assistant with a background in Insurance Defence. This position will provide administrative and litigation support to lawyers while assisting with the organization and progression of active files.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Insurance Defence experience, strong knowledge of Ontario litigation procedures, and the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a busy professional environment.
The role will require on-site attendance during the initial training and onboarding period, with a hybrid work arrangement available afterward.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Legal Assistant experience in Insurance Defence
- Good working knowledge of Ontario’s Rules of Civil Procedure and court processes
- Experience preparing, reviewing and formatting legal correspondence and litigation documents
- Familiarity with electronic filing and service procedures
- Experience coordinating discoveries, mediations, court matters and other legal appointments
- Ability to maintain and organize litigation files throughout the legal process
- Experience assisting with document production and preparation for hearings or trials
- Comfortable managing calendars, deadlines and multiple competing priorities
- Experience with legal documents or file management systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong proofreading, written communication and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a legal team
- Professional and able to maintain strict confidentiality
- Legal Assistant Diploma or related education is considered an asset
Previous Insurance Defence experience is required for consideration.
