Full Job Description
We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator, specifically Laser Tube/Beam Cutting Machine Operator & Programmer to join our structural steel fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC laser cutting machines and be proficient in using TEKLA/TubesT Nesting software to interpret structural steel drawings and prepare files for cutting. This role is hands-on, technical, and essential to producing high-quality parts for our projects.

Responsibilities

- Operate CNC laser tube cutting equipment to process round, square, rectangular, oval, and custom-profile pipes and steel sections.
- Use TEKLA/TubesT software to review and prepare cutting files.
- Load and unload materials using overhead cranes or other handling equipment.
- Interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and verify cut dimensions.
- Set up jobs for optimal accuracy and material utilization.
- Monitor cutting operations and ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
- Keep the machine and surrounding area clean and organized.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Work with minimal supervision and meet production timelines.
- Assist with other tasks as required in the fabrication shop.

Qualifications





- Proficiency in TEKLA Structural Steel and TubesT 3D Nesting software is required.
- Experience operating CNC laser cutting machines, preferably in a steel fabrication environment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret structural steel details.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic math and measurement tool usage (e.g., tape measure, calipers).
- Familiarity with various metal materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Crane/forklift operation experience is an asset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
