Otter Wise Talent Solutions is recruiting an experienced Planner / Scheduler on behalf of our client, an established Alberta industrial organization supporting operations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

This is an opportunity for an experienced industrial Planner / Scheduler to take an important role in the coordination of production, maintenance, workforce, subcontractor, and equipment requirements within an active industrial operation.

Our client is looking for someone who can do more than maintain a schedule. We need a Planner / Scheduler who understands how production, maintenance, labour, equipment, outages, and operational priorities work together—and who can look ahead to identify potential resource or scheduling gaps before they impact operations.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Working closely with our client's production and maintenance management teams, the Planner / Scheduler will develop, maintain, and communicate weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules supporting operational requirements.

A significant component of this role is workforce and resource planning.

You'll coordinate requirements across internal employees and cost-reimbursable subcontractors, forecast upcoming labour and equipment needs, support outage planning, and help ensure resources are available when operations need them.

The successful candidate will be proactive, analytical, highly organized, and comfortable working across production, maintenance, operations, employees, contractors, and leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Industrial Planning & Scheduling

- Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational schedules
- Coordinate production and maintenance scheduling requirements
- Translate operational priorities and production forecasts into practical schedules
- Communicate schedules, priorities, and upcoming resource requirements to operational teams
- Monitor scheduling requirements and adjust plans as operational priorities change
- Participate in production and operational planning meetings

Maintenance, Shutdown & Outage Planning

- Support planned maintenance activities and maintenance scheduling
- Coordinate labour and resource requirements around maintenance activities
- Support shutdown and outage planning
- Identify potential resource conflicts or scheduling constraints before they affect operations
- Work with production and maintenance management to coordinate priorities and minimize downtime

Workforce & Resource Planning

- Coordinate workforce assignments for internal employees and subcontractors
- Develop labour plans aligned with production and maintenance requirements
- Forecast upcoming workforce requirements
- Identify potential labour shortages or surpluses
- Recommend practical solutions to address workforce and scheduling gaps
- Coordinate subcontractor labour requirements
- Develop quarterly plans identifying anticipated subcontractor labour and equipment requirements
- Support labour allocation across competing operational priorities

Equipment & Operational Coordination

- Coordinate equipment requirements as part of operational planning
- Help ensure labour and equipment requirements align with production forecasts
- Work across production, maintenance,



operations, and contractor teams
- Anticipate resource constraints and escalate issues before they impact production

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Prepare labour-utilization reports
- Develop workforce forecasts
- Prepare scheduling metrics and operational reporting for leadership
- Support implementation and improvement of planning, scheduling, and asset-management applications
- Identify opportunities to improve workforce planning, scheduling processes, reporting, and resource utilization

- Working directly with production and maintenance leadership

We're interested in what you have actually planned and scheduled, not simply whether you've held a Planner or Scheduler title.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Relevant backgrounds may include:

- Mining
- Aggregates
- Sand and mineral processing
- Industrial operations
- Heavy industry
- Oil and gas services
- Energy-sector operations
- Processing facilities
- Manufacturing
- Production environments
- Construction and industrial projects
- Other comparable operational environments

Previous mining or aggregates experience is a strong asset, but it is not mandatory for someone with highly transferable industrial planning and scheduling experience.

SYSTEMS & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Candidates should have:

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
- Experience working with planning and scheduling systems
- Ability to develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate operational schedules

Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

- ERP systems
- CMMS systems
- Workforce scheduling software
- Asset-management systems
- Maintenance-management systems
- Maintenance-planning applications
- Project-management and scheduling software
