Since 1945 – Family owned and operated - Eassons Transportation Group is headquartered in Kentville NS, with terminals in Coldbrook, NS, Sydney, NS, Albany, PEI, Moncton, NB, Mount Pearl, NL, Belleville, ON and Mississauga, ON. Eassons operates approximately 325 trucks and employs over 500 people. Eassons Transportation Group provides dry and temperature-controlled TL/LTL services across Canada and the United States.

The Logistics Specialist coordinates freight movements from pickup through delivery, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with customer requirements. This role sources carrier capacity, monitors active loads, maintains accurate shipment information, and supports reliable customer service in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and manage freight movements from pickup through final delivery.
- Select the appropriate carrier and equipment based on capacity, service requirements, timing, and cost.
- Monitor and track shipments to support on-time pickup and delivery.
- Provide timely shipment updates and proactively resolve service issues or delays.
- Source qualified carriers and build strong, professional carrier relationships.
- Negotiate competitive carrier rates while supporting service quality and load profitability.
- Enter and maintain accurate load, rate, carrier, appointment, and shipment information in TruckMate.
- Maintain dispatch records and required shipment documentation.
- Search for available loads and maintain an active freight pipeline.
- Support cross-border shipments by coordinating required customs documentation and information.
- Work collaboratively with customers, carriers, sales, and internal departments.
- Meet established operational KPIs and service expectations.
- Participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement.




- Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

- Minimum three years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or a related field.
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of the North American transportation industry and geography.
- Knowledge of basic customs processes for freight moving between Canada and the United States.
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. Customs, FDA, and meat inspection procedures is considered an asset.
- Experience using transportation management software. TruckMate or TMW experience is considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft 365.
- Robust communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
