Planner / Scheduler – Industrial OperationsPosition Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and analytical Planner / Scheduler to join our team and support the planning and coordination of production and maintenance activities within a dynamic industrial operating environment.

This position plays a critical role in working closely with production and maintenance management teams to develop and maintain schedules, coordinate workforce requirements, and ensure labour and equipment resources are aligned with operational priorities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans and schedules while supporting both internal employees and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and communicate weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules for production and maintenance teams.
- Develop quarterly plans for subcontractor labour and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate workforce assignments for both direct employees and cost-reimbursable subcontractors.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams on outage planning and scheduling.
- Ensure staffing plans align with production forecasts, project priorities, maintenance requirements, and operational needs.
- Identify potential staffing shortages or surpluses and recommend solutions before they affect production or operations.
- Collaborate with managers to develop labour plans that maximize productivity while minimizing downtime and unnecessary labour costs.




- Assist with the implementation and ongoing use of asset management, planning, and scheduling applications.
- Participate in production and operational planning meetings and provide clear scheduling updates.
- Monitor schedule performance and make adjustments as operational priorities change.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workforce planning, resource allocation, and scheduling processes.
- Prepare labour utilization reports, workforce forecasts, scheduling metrics, and other reports for leadership.
- Maintain accurate scheduling information and ensure relevant stakeholders are kept informed of changes and requirements.
- Work collaboratively across production, maintenance, operations, and management teams to ensure effective resource planning.

Qualifications & Skills

- Previous experience in industrial planning and scheduling.
- Experience in mining, aggregates, construction, manufacturing, industrial operations, or another heavy-industry environment is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of workforce scheduling, labour allocation, and resource planning.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.




- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing requirements in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with workforce scheduling, ERP, asset management, or project management software is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate scheduling and workforce information.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and proactive planner who understands the demands of an industrial operating environment and can translate operational requirements into practical workforce and maintenance schedules.

You will be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, identifying resource requirements in advance, analyzing workforce needs, and adjusting schedules as priorities change. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills will be essential to success in this role.

Experience coordinating industrial labour, maintenance activities, subcontractors, equipment requirements, and outage planning will be highly valued.
