PARTS MANAGER – HEAVY EQUIPMENT & TRUCK/TRAILER

Full-Time | Permanent | 40 Hours per Week

Motion Machinery Ltd. is looking for an experienced, motivated and customer-focused Parts Manager to lead and grow our Parts Department. This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who understands the heavy equipment and truck & trailer parts industry, takes ownership of their department, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Parts Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the Parts Department, including parts staff management, inventory management, purchasing, pricing and margins, vendor relationships, customer service, internal service support, safety training and coordination for parts staff, parts sales and department organization. The successful candidate will work closely with our Service and Sales teams to ensure our technicians and customers have the right parts, at the right price, when they need them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Parts Department Management & Growth

- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation and performance of the Parts Department.
- Develop and grow parts sales with existing and new customers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and manufacturers.
- Monitor parts pricing, costs and margins to ensure competitive pricing and department profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory turns, availability and overall Parts Department performance.
- Maintain an organized, professional and efficient parts department.
- Ensure established company procedures and controls are consistently followed.
- Assist in developing processes and procedures as the department and company continue to grow.

Inventory & Purchasing

- Manage parts purchasing and supplier orders.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while controlling excess and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
- Oversee receiving and inventory counts.
- Coordinate and manage annual physical inventory.
- Manage cores, returns and core reimbursements.
- Monitor supplier pricing and parts costs.
- Ensure accurate receiving, stocking and documentation of inventory.




- Oversee shipping and receiving functions.
- Maintain quality control on parts purchased and sold.

Customer & Counter Support

- Provide excellent customer service to walk-in, telephone and email customers.
- Research and source parts for all makes and models of heavy equipment, highway trucks and trailers.
- Prepare quotations, pricing, sales orders and purchase orders.
- Follow up on quotations and customer parts requirements.
- Process customer payments and parts transactions.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to customer inquiries, concerns and parts issues.

Service Department Support

- Work closely with the Service Department to source parts quickly and accurately.
- Provide back-counter parts support to shop and field technicians.
- Monitor outstanding parts required for active work orders.
- Ensure quoted jobs have accurate parts pricing and that parts are properly charged to work orders.
- Communicate expected delivery dates, backorders and parts availability to Service.
- Help minimize technician downtime by proactively sourcing required parts.

Warranty & Administration

- Process parts-related warranty documentation.
- Manage warranty parts returns and required documentation.
- Process core returns and reimbursements.
- Ensure purchase orders, invoices, parts sales and work-order charges are accurate.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical parts records.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Previous Parts Manager, Parts Lead or senior parts experience is strongly preferred with mechanical background and/or previous experience in the field.
- Certified Parts Technician/Journeyperson designation is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of parts sourcing, inventory management and purchasing.
- Experience researching parts across multiple equipment manufacturers and product lines.
- Strong understanding of parts pricing,



costing and margins.
- Previous sales and customer relationship experience is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Robust verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a busy service environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to the overall team.
- Strong attention to detail and accountability.
