SEASONAL WINTER MAINTENANCE WORKER

Wage: $28.71/hour

Shiftwork: Yes

Night Shift Premium: Applicable in accordance with the Collective Agreement

Hours: Approximately 40–44 hours per week plus overtime as needed

Schedule: Approximately 3.5 shifts per week, consisting of three (3) 12-hour shifts and one (1) 6-hour shift

Minimum License: DZ Class Driver’s Licence

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking reliable and experienced Seasonal Winter Maintenance Workers to join our winter maintenance operations for the 2026–2027 winter season.

The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting protected and effective winter maintenance operations, including snow and ice removal, roadway and property maintenance, equipment operation, inspections, and general maintenance activities.

This position is well suited to individuals with experience in snow removal, winter road maintenance, heavy equipment operation, or related field operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform snow and ice removal operations during winter weather events.

Operate snow removal and winter maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.

Perform pre- and post-storm inspections and maintenance activities.

Monitor roadways, equipment, and assigned areas for winter hazards.

Apply salt, sand, brine, and other winter maintenance materials as required.

Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and handling of materials and equipment.

Perform general maintenance, repairs, and housekeeping duties as required.

Complete required work orders, inspection reports, logs, and documentation.





Respond to changing weather and operational conditions, including emergency call-ins.

Work safely around heavy equipment, vehicles, traffic, and other hazards.

Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and applicable regulations.

Work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and other personnel.

Perform other winter maintenance and general maintenance duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Valid Ontario DZ Driver’s License minimum.

Demonstrated experience in snow removal, winter maintenance, construction, road maintenance, or a related field is an asset.

Experience operating trucks, loaders, plows, or other winter maintenance equipment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and during severe winter weather events.

Ability to work extended shifts and respond to operational requirements on short notice.

Preferred: Previous municipal, highway, bridge, road, or commercial winter maintenance experience.

Experience operating snowplows, salt trucks, loaders, skid steers, or similar equipment.

Previous unionized work experience.

Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform minor equipment checks and maintenance.

WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant safety certifications.

Shift work required. Three (3) 12 hour shifts and 1 six (6) hours shift (3.5 days on - 3.5 days off) plus overtime as needed.

Pay: $28.53 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
