Yard Associate/Store Assistant — Farm & Fencing Supplies

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Yard/Store Assistant with experience in farm, livestock and fencing supplies. The ideal candidate will assist customers, maintain product displays, manage stock, and support daily store operations while demonstrating product knowledge specific to agricultural and fencing materials.

Key responsibilities

- Greet customers, assess needs, and provide knowledgeable product recommendations for farm and fencing supplies (e.g., wire, posts, gates, animal feed products).

- Process sales transactions, returns, and special orders accurately using POS systems.

- Maintain organized, clean, and visually appealing shelf displays, and ensured 100% accuracy in labeling and pricing.

- Receive, inspect, and store incoming deliveries; complete inventory counts and report discrepancies.

- Assist with loading/unloading heavy items and operate manual handling equipment safely.

- Maintain a clean, safe store environment and comply with health, safety, and loss-prevention procedures.

- Support promotional activities and in-store events as needed.

- Communicate product needs and customer feedback to management.

Required qualifications & experience

- Experience working with farm, livestock and fencing supplies (retail,



wholesale, or field experience) — minimum 1–2 years preferred.

- Deep understanding of agricultural goods, livestock feed, and fencing materials to confidently guide and support customers.

- Comfortable handling physically demanding tasks. Ability to lift, move, and maneuver heavy farm or fencing supplies (e.g., up to 50lbs) regularly.

- Forklift experience/certification is a strong asset; however, we are willing to provide forklift training and certification for the right candidate.

- Basic numeracy and experience using POS and inventory systems.

- Strong customer service and communication skills.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturday .
