Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of industrial equipment and systems at customer sites. Your expertise will ensure optimal operation of machinery and infrastructure, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Installation & Commissioning

- Perform installation, setup, and commissioning of recent railroad maintenance or service equipment at customer sites.
- Conduct operational testing, calibration, and verification to ensure systems perform according to design specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering to provide on-site technical feedback for product improvements or modifications.

2. Maintenance & Repair

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on Geismar North America equipment.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Perform component replacements, alignments,



and system adjustments in accordance with service manuals and technical bulletins.
- Document all service activities, including parts used, work performed, and any recommendations for future maintenance.

3. Customer Support & Communication

- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during field service assignments.
- Provide training and guidance to customer maintenance personnel on proper operation and care of equipment.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while representing the company at customer facilities and railroad sites.
- Communicate service findings and customer concerns to internal departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Sales.

4. Technical Documentation & Reporting

- Complete accurate service reports, inspection sheets, and time logs after each job.
- Utilize digital tools or ERP systems to record work orders, part usage, and service history.
- Report recurring technical issues to the Director of Field Operations to support root cause analysis and product improvement.

5. Safety & Compliance

- Follow all company safety procedures and comply with customer and railroad site safety regulations.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout and confined space entry protocols when applicable.




- Maintain an organized and safe work environment both at customer sites and while traveling.
- Participate in ongoing safety and technical training programs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- Diploma or certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or related trade.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain railroad site access certifications and safety clearances as needed (eRailSafe, FRA/Transport Canada).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience servicing industrial, heavy equipment, or machinery (preferably in the railroad or transporting sector).
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
- Experience working in field environments with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills & Competencies

- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Proficient in mechanical assembly, alignment, and precision adjustment.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as required.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
