The Opportunity
A well-established independent restaurant group is seeking a Corporate Chef to oversee and advance its culinary program across multiple locations in the heart of Montreal.
Working closely with ownership and the restaurant leadership teams, the Corporate Chef will help shape the group’s culinary direction, develop new menus, implement strong operating systems, and standardize food production across all units.
With expansion on the horizon, this is a multifaceted leadership role that combines hands-on kitchen involvement with menu development, administration, team development, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable working alongside the culinary teams and managing the broader systems required to support quality, consistency, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee culinary operations and standards across multiple restaurant locations
- Collaborate with ownership on culinary strategy, menu direction, and future growth
- Develop, test, cost, document, and launch new menu items
- Standardize recipes, preparation methods, portioning, presentation, and production
- Establish systems and procedures that improve consistency, quality, and efficiency
- Work hands-on with kitchen teams to support execution and reinforce standards
- Coach, mentor, and develop chefs and culinary team members
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Monitor food quality, food costs, waste, inventory, and labour efficiency
- Support purchasing, supplier relationships, and product sourcing
- Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, and workplace organization
- Help prepare the culinary operation for recent restaurant openings and continued expansion
- Balance daily operational priorities with administrative responsibilities and long-term planning
The Ideal Candidate
- An accomplished culinary leader with experience in a senior chef or multi-unit culinary role
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, food production, recipe development, and menu costing
- Demonstrated ability to introduce systems and maintain consistent standards across teams or locations
- A hands-on leader who enjoys coaching teams and working in the kitchen during service
- Organized and comfortable balancing culinary creativity with administration and financial accountability
- Able to work collaboratively with ownership, management, and kitchen teams
- Adaptable, practical, and capable of succeeding in a growing entrepreneurial environment
- Experience supporting restaurant openings or expansion would be an asset

Location Requirement
The restaurants are located in the heart of Montreal. Only candidates who are currently able to commute to Montreal or who can relocate before their start date will be considered.
