We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Traffic Manager to oversee our inbound and outbound freight operations. In this role, you will be the critical link between our facility, shipping carriers, and suppliers. You will manage transportation schedules, negotiate carrier rates, ensure compliance with Canadian shipping regulations, and optimize transit routes to guarantee the smooth, cost-effective flow of goods.

Key Responsibilities

- Carrier & Freight Management:
- Coordinate, book, and schedule all inbound and outbound shipments with commercial carriers, trucking companies, and 3PL providers across domestic and cross-border lanes.
- Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs) with carriers to ensure cost-efficiency and reliable delivery times.
- Monitor shipments in transit and proactively resolve tracking issues, border delays, or routing disruptions.
- Dock & Inbound/Outbound Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with dock supervisors and warehouse receiving teams to ensure smooth loading and unloading of incoming deliveries.
- Review and reconcile shipping documents, bills of lading (BOL), and customs paperwork against purchase orders.
- Manage outgoing shipment documentation and ensure freight is properly labeled, palletized, and staged.
- Compliance & Documentation:




- Ensure all shipping and transportation practices comply with Canadian regulations, including the National Safety Code (NSC) standards, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, and provincial workplace safety guidelines (e.g., WHMIS / provincial OH&S;).
- Handle customs documentation and cross-border compliance requirements if dealing with imports/exports (e.g., ACE/ACI manifests, CBSA protocols).
- Maintain accurate digital logs of shipping expenses, carrier performance metrics, freight claims, and delivery timestamps.
- Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs, consolidate loads, and improve transit times.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping vendors and internal warehouse staff to streamline daily workflows.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience:
- [e.g., 2–4+ years] of experience in logistics, freight management, shipping/receiving, or transportation coordination within Canada or North American cross-border shipping.
- Education:
- High school diploma required; a post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field is a strong asset (P.Log. or CITT designation is a plus).
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP software, and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with Canadian carrier networks, provincial weight/dimension regulations, and cross-border logistics.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor-management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities to handle real-time shipping delays or cargo issues.

Strong communication skills for coordinating smoothly with drivers, carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments.
