ARCHER CRM is recruiting archaeologists who have qualified, or may qualify, as Field
Directors (BC Archaeology Branch Bulletin 17) with experience in Boreal Forest archaeology.
This position leads field crews on assignments in northern BC.

Job description

Primary Responsibility: To lead archaeological field teams and support Project Lead
Archaeologists in the management of found archaeological sites. The Field Director will be required
to meet regulatory, Company, and client standards, including but not limited to:

 Archaeological field assessments in a supervisory capacity;
 Adhere to ARCHER CRM OH&S; & Quality Assurance programs;
 Provide direction and mentoring to apprenticing Archaeologists;
 Co-ordinate logistics effectively with Crew Chief(s) and Project Managers;
 Co-ordinate with Project Lead Archaeologists to satisfy project needs;
 Facilitate communications between Certified Archaeologists,



and the Field Director’s team;
 Must be capable of working in a team environment, both in leadership and supportive roles
 Involves travel to remote job sites.

Preference given to those with the following skills/experience:

 Demonstrated ability to supervise a field crew
 Demonstrated ability to work in remote and inclement conditions
 Demonstrated ability to complete technical and administrative documentation accurately
 Conduct of controlled archaeological excavations

Requirements:

 Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent;
 Canadian Citizen, or legally eligible to work in Canada;
 Be a Branch-approved field director for BC’s Subarctic Boreal Forest cultural region, or

demonstrable equivalency in another regulatory jurisdiction;
 Undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.Sc.) or technical equivalent in Archaeology and/or

Anthropology;
 A minimum of 360days in cultural resource management, archaeological fieldwork, or a

combination thereof.
o Including a minimum of 60 days supervision of archaeological work in boreal conditions

Remuneration:
 $36.00/hour - $44.00/hour commensurate with demonstrated experience.
