Centurion Canada is seeking an experienced Water Treatment Operator to support the operation of a field-based water treatment system in Hamilton, Ontario.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Water Treatment Operator will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and effective day-to-day operation of the treatment system. This role is well suited to an experienced water or wastewater treatment professional who is comfortable working independently in an industrial field environment, troubleshooting process issues, and making operational adjustments within established procedures and operating limits.

Key Responsibilities:

- Safely operate and monitor the water treatment system in accordance with established operating procedures and project requirements.
- Monitor treatment performance, flow rates, pressures, tank levels, chemical dosing systems, pumps, filters, carbon vessels, clarification systems, and associated equipment.
- Perform routine field testing of influent, intermediate process streams, and treated effluent.
- Collect operational and compliance samples and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
- Monitor treatment parameters such as pH, turbidity, flow, pressure, chemical dosing, iron, floc formation, and other project-specific indicators.
- Review and trend operational data to identify changes in treatment performance and developing process or equipment issues.
- Make timely operational adjustments to chemical dosing, flow, pH, and other operating parameters within approved procedures and limits.
- Perform first-line troubleshooting of treatment system and equipment performance.
- Investigate chemical feed issues, filtration performance, clarification performance, increasing turbidity,



changing influent conditions, and other process concerns.
- Monitor and replace bag and cartridge filters as required.
- Perform carbon vessel backwashing and monitor carbon treatment performance.
- Monitor chemical inventories and conduct routine chemical transfer or filling activities where authorized.
- Maintain accurate daily operator logs, operating records, sampling information, chemical usage records, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Promptly communicate abnormal operating conditions, equipment failures, process upsets, safety concerns, or potential discharge-quality issues to the project team.
- Participate in site orientations, toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and other health and safety initiatives.
- Follow all applicable PPE, chemical handling, spill prevention, lockout/isolation, and site-specific safety requirements.

Requirements:

- Water/Wastewater Operator certification, environmental technology training, or equivalent industrial water treatment experience.
- Level 1 or Level 2 Water Treatment certification is an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of water/wastewater or industrial water treatment experience preferred.
- Experience operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting treatment systems in an industrial, environmental, construction, or similar field environment.
- Experience with field testing, environmental sampling, chemical dosing, filtration, clarification, carbon treatment, pumps, and related treatment equipment is an asset.
- SCADA/HMI and computerized operating/data system experience is an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
- WHMIS and Standard First Aid/CPR.
- Confined Space, TDG, Working at Heights,



and Fall Protection training are considered assets.
- Strong troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while recognizing when issues require escalation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment:

This is a field-based position located in Hamilton, Ontario.

The successful candidate will work primarily around water treatment equipment in an industrial construction/remediation environment and should be comfortable:

- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Spending extended periods standing and walking around treatment equipment.
- Working around pumps, piping, tanks, filters, chemical systems, and other industrial equipment.
- Safely handling treatment chemicals in accordance with established procedures.
- Working independently for portions of the operating shift.
- Working occasional extended hours based on treatment and project requirements. Shifts will range between 8-10 hours per day.
