Thunder Bay Pulp & Paper is a leading northern bleached softwood kraft energy producer. Located on Lake Superior, the Thunder Bay mill has been a landmark company of northwestern Ontario since 1919. In August 2023, Atlas Holdings established Thunder Bay Pulp & Paper as an independent pulp and paper operation, joining Atlas’ global family of manufacturing and distribution businesses.

This is a permanent full-time hourly paid position within our collective agreement and is a day shift position working 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday. The starting rate of pay is $35.12 and increases as individuals are trained and working in other positions within the department. The fully trained rate is $41.81/hour.

Responsibilities:

- Participate in safety programs and ensure the application of our safety standards.
- Collect, prepare and analyze samples using laboratory and field equipment.
- Record and interpret results and communicate findings to various users.
- Maintain equipment and supplies and troubleshoot equipment failures.
- Participate in various projects including the designing and conducting of experiments and preparation of reports.




- Collaborate with production departments and performing testing in all departments of the facility.
- You will apply your organizational skills to maximize uptime, quality and production.
- Communicate updates to the supervisor to maintain goals.

Your Profile:

- Candidates must have a college diploma or university degree in a science field of study.
- Possess a strong safety focus on safety.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervison and within a diverse team workplace.
- Previous experience in a lab setting would be an asset.
- There is some physical work in the entry-level position and candidates must be able to complete this work as required working in all areas of the mill.
- Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada at the time of applying for this position.
