We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Classification Specialist to join our clients team in Mississauga. The successful candidate will be responsible for classifying and rating shipments, preparing customs documentation, processing invoices, and ensuring shipments meet applicable customs and government regulations.

Responsibilities

- Classify and rate shipments using the Harmonized System (HS)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Customs and other government department requirements, including tariff rate quotas and agriculture permits
- Prepare waybill entries and supporting documentation
- Apply appropriate transaction barcodes and photocopy corresponding invoices
- Perform waybill entries and transfer files to the AS400 system
- Use NAFTA Query Main Screen and other customs-related systems
- Create B3 entries manually using HS classification codes
- Prepare and print invoices for processing and splitting
- Collate, file, and distribute B3 invoice copies
- Extract statements, summary billing, and no-mailing-list invoices for the billing department
- Prepare files, print waybill screens, and release dates
- Transfer files from the CCI interface and update file statuses
- Prepare Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) invoices and worksheets for cross-documentation
- Process and transmit files as required
- Organize and process Other Government Department (OGD) permit applications




- Communicate and coordinate with applicable government departments
- Perform data entry and manual invoice processing
- Liaise with customers regarding missing HS codes, invoices, documentation, and other required information
- Work collaboratively with staff at other border offices to resolve system-related issues

Requirements/Qualifications

- Previous logistics and/or customs brokerage experience or education is required
- Prior AS400 experience is an asset
- Strong computer navigation and data entry skills
- Minimum typing speed of approximately 50 WPM
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and comprehension skills
- Ability to think critically and resolve issues effectively
- Able to work accurately in a rapid-paced, deadline-driven environment

Payrate: $19.63

Work Schedule: 8:30AM - 4:30PM

Pay: $19.63 per hour
