Position Summary
The Level 2 Childcare Educator is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging workplace for children. The educator supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities, positive interactions, and responsive care.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide attentive and compassionate care to children in accordance with program policies and applicable childcare regulations.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, physical development, and social interaction.
- Observe children’s development and interests and use observations to support individual learning needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Support children with daily routines, including meals, snacks, toileting, handwashing, dressing, rest periods, and transitions.
- Promote positive behaviour through guidance, encouragement, and respectful communication.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, and community partners.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s daily experiences and development.
- Complete required documentation, including attendance records, observations, incident reports, and daily communication.
- Follow health, safety, hygiene, emergency, and child-protection procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other educators and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development,



and program activities.
- Support an inclusive environment that respects children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Perform other childcare-related duties as required.

Qualifications

- Level 2 Early Childhood Educator certification or equivalent, as required by the applicable provincial/territorial licensing authority.
- Current first aid and CPR certification.
- Clear background/police information check and vulnerable sector check,
- Knowledge of child development, early learning principles, and positive guidance strategies.
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy childcare environment.

Working Conditions
The position involves working directly with children for extended periods and may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting children with daily activities. The educator must be able to maintain active supervision and respond appropriately to children’s needs throughout the day.
