**Job Title: Forklift Operator – Part Time (Weekends)**

**Job Description**

This part-time Forklift Operator role is based in a high-volume LTL freight cross-dock environment in Calgary.

You operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to load and unload trailers, move pallets, and support shipping and receiving activities.

The position combines forklift operation with manual material handling, paperwork, and general dock upkeep to ensure freight moves safely and efficiently through the facility.

**Responsibilities**

+ Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
+ Load and unload trailers with freight using the forklift, handling a wide variety of palletized shipments.
+ Move pallets and freight within the cross-dock area to designated locations for shipping and receiving.
+ Perform manual material handling (hand bombing) of products up to 50 lbs, adjusting to daily shipment volumes and frequency.
+ Handle bills of lading, waybills, and other shipping documentation accurately during the shift.
+ Assist team members with unloading paperwork and ensure documentation is completed and organized.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum 1 year of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift.
+ At least 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift in a transportation, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, or LTL environment.
+ Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
+ Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced cross-dock or shipping and receiving environment.
+ Valid forklift certification or ticket (in-house or private accepted).
+ Experience working with LTL freight, shipping and receiving, cross-dock operations, and docking processes.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Safety vest available for use on shift; bringing a personal safety vest is strongly recommended.
+ Previous leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, or freight environment.
+ Experience using RF scanners for tracking and managing freight.
+ Hands-on experience with waybills and bills of lading in a shipping and receiving context.

**Work Environment**

The role is based in a very quick-paced LTL freight cross-dock handling facilitating.

Trucks arrive with pallets that are unloaded, sorted, and repacked for destinations within a relatively small and busy dock space.

The facility includes approximately 68 bay doors and 16 forklifts, with a team of 20–25 dockworkers and forklift operators on the floor across shifts, and you work closely with a core team of about 7–10 people.

The environment requires constant movement in and out of the docks and frequent transitions between forklift operation, paperwork, and manual handling tasks.

The part-time schedule is weekends only, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Work takes place on an open dock that can be very cold, so outdoor-appropriate clothing such as jackets, sweatshirts, and other warm layers is expected to ensure comfort and safety during the shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $24.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
