Job Title: Payroll Supervisor
Location: Lethbridge, AB
Schedule: Temporary Term
Our client is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead and support payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation while maintaining compliance with applicable legislation, policies, and collective agreements.
What's the Job?
- Execute and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, including approvals, reporting, and adherence to payroll deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation, labour standards, collective agreements, and internal policies.
- Reconcile payroll accounts, including T slips, Employment Insurance rebates, Workers’ Compensation Board assessments, and supporting documentation for financial statement reporting.
- Process payroll payments accurately and on schedule.
- Manage and maintain:
- CRA reconciliations and reporting
- Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Group RRSP and TFSA administration
- Retroactive pay adjustments
- Garnishments
- Payroll process documentation and annual reviews
- Analyze payroll system capabilities and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
- Test system upgrades and enhancements within payroll and financial systems.
- Respond to payroll-related questions from employees, managers, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with departments including Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Perks, and operational teams.
- Support payroll projects and organizational initiatives by gathering information, completing assigned tasks, and contributing process improvement recommendations.
What's Needed?
- National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
designation.
- Two-year diploma in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of four years of payroll experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll systems, including PeopleSoft Payroll and JDE.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, accounting principles, and payroll administration practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computerized financial systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
